Kentucky Crushed Stone Association's Teachers Workshop

Who Should Attend:

This program is designed for Science teachers who teach Elementary, Middle and High Schools (3-12), trade/vocational school teachers and other teachers who would like to learn more about rocks and minerals.

  • 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. - Geology of Kentucky - Stephen Greb, Ph. D., Kentucky Geology Survey
  • 11:00 p.m. - 11:30 a.m. - "If it can't be grown, it has to be mined" Dale C. Elifrits, Northern KY University
  • 11:30 - 12:15 p.m. – Lunch
  • 12:15 - 2:15 p.m. - Underground Limestone Mine Quarry Tour - Nally & Gibson Georgetown, Georgetown, KY
  • 2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. - Hands-On/Minds-On Session 1 - Workshop Staff
  • 2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. - Hands-On/Minds-On Session 2 - Workshop Staff

Do you need a hotel room?

Some teachers travel from several hours away and may need a hotel room prior to the event on the night of Wednesday, June 15. We cover the hotel rooms as part of our way to say thank you for your service as a teacher. Please contact Gaye Horton in the KCSA office at 502.223.2379 or Gaye@kycsa.org to secure your hotel room at the Holiday Inn in Georgetown.
