The Walker Company's Jeff Clayton Awarded 40 Year Miner Award


Van Jeffery Clayton, better known as Jeff, a resident of Menifee County, (Frenchburg, Kentucky), was awarded the prestigious 40 year Miner award at the 2016 Southeast Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Conference on November 2nd in Birmingham, Alabama. Jeff Clayton is a 43 year tenured employee of The Walker Company of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Jeff started working for the Company on a Saturday in June of 1973 at the young age of 18. In August of that same year Jeff married his high school sweetheart, Darlene. They have a son and a grandson whom they adore and love. Jeff's hobbies other than work are hunting and fishing and when available, he takes his grandson along. Currently, he is the manager of the Company quarries.

Jeff has worked in numerous crushing operations for 43 years and never has had a lost time accident. Needless to say, he is very deserving of this award. Presenting Jeff with the award was Joe Main, Assistant Secretary of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration, Patricia Silvey, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations of MSHA, and Sam ierce, District Manager of MSHA, Southeast District.

The Walker Company is very proud our their safe employee of 43 years and want to wish him the best in his future years after his retirement at the end of 2017.
